Kendrick Lamar is riding high after the success of his Pop Out concert in Los Angeles. As the dust settles, Snoop Dogg passes the torch to K. Dot and crowns him the king of LA after the epic show.
Snoop took to Instagram on Friday (June 21) from Canada and applauded what Kendrick accomplished by bringing different parts of the West Coast together under one roof at the Juneteenth show.
“Sending a big shout out to K. Dot and all the expats from the West who stood together united organized in peace [and] love,” Snoop gushed. “It was fun to watch. It's beautiful to see all my people come together.”
It's not exactly Jon Snow who is considered the King in the North Game of Thrones, but then came the coronation from Snoop: “Mr. Dot, you are the King of the West. This is the kind of st kings, we unite.'
As an artist who has seen it all in his three decades in the music industry, Snoop understood how special it was to have Kendrick Lamar preach a message of unity and peace in LA, even if it was just for one night.
Kendrick electrified the Kia Forum crowd with his first performance since the Drake feud. Lamar's winning run saw the live debut of tracks like “Euphoria,” his Billboard Hot 100-top verse “Like That,” and the Mustard-produced “Not Like Us,” which he performed five times in a row.
In addition to Drake's beef, Kendrick Lamar appreciated being able to bring gang members from different backgrounds and various Los Angeles luminaries with him on stage. “It has nothing to do with any back-and-forth records,” Kendrick said during his show. “It's all about this moment here. That was the point. To bring us all together.”
It's only fitting that Snoop crowns K. Dot as King of the West after him passed the torch to him in 2011 after his release Section.80. “I say this and I mean it. N—ah, you got the torch,” Snoop said at the time. “You better run with it, n—ah, because it's yours.”
