Morgan Wallen leads this week's all-genre Billboard Hot 100 as his new song “Love Somebody,” released on Mercury/Big Loud/Republic, debuts at the top of the chart. The song also marks the first country song to debut at the top of the chart since Wallen's collaboration with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help,” which hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs in May.
Topping the Hot 100 with “Love Somebody,” Knoxville, Tennessee native Wallen earned his 29th hit on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts dating back to 1958, when the first chart debuted and the second became the genre of country music is unique Bulletin board chart.
“Love Somebody” marks the fourth song in 2024 to top both charts, following Shaboozey's “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Beyoncé's “Texas Hold'Em” and Wallen's own collaboration with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help.”
With this quartet of chart-toppers, 2024 continues the prominence of country songs topping both charts. Last year, four more songs topped the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs, marking the most songs to top both charts since 1975-76, when six songs doubled.
“Love Somebody” also marks Wallen's third joint Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs No. 1, following “Last Night” and “I Had Some Help,” as it surpasses Glen Campbell, John Denver, Dolly Parton , Kenny Rogers and Taylor Swift, who have each earned two songs at the top of both charts.
