Steve Angello has pulled back the curtain on an intriguing development in Swedish House Mafia lore: the iconic dance music trio scrapped an entire album of new material.
In an interview with BillboardAngello revealed that the group had recorded a full album as a follow-up to their 2022 album. paradise again, their long-awaited debut album which saw them adopt a more mature and atmospheric sound. But he made it clear that his musical compass is constantly changing: “We had an album, we scrapped it and put out singles.”
Angello elaborated on the decision and explained the standard the trio maintains in the studio. Their relentless pursuit of artistic evolution is not surprising for a group that has redefined the electronic dance music landscape many times over.
“We always continue working on music, and when we feel like [what we have] “If it's good enough, we'll publish it,” he said. “As a creator, if you don't feel something, it won't see the light.”
The revelation comes as Angello continues to expand his solo catalog while assuring fans that there is plenty of new SHM music on the horizon. Changing plans, instead of a full album, the trio has since opted to release two standalone tracks: the long-awaited “Lioness” and a captivating reworking of Kings of Tomorrow's house classic “Finally” featuring Alicia Keys.
