SZA's season is upon us, according to the artist herself.
The four-time Grammy winner confirmed that fans will hear new music before the end of the year, sharing the news as part of a recent appearance on Kai Cenat's live stream with his colleague Lizzo.
Letting slip that a “whole new project” was up her sleeves, Cenat pushed for a potential release date before SZA slyly admitted that “it's going to be out before the year is out.”
If true, it will be the second time SZA has shared a major release on the bottom line of the year. In 2022, her second album danger signal arrived on December 9th and was quickly in contention for one of the albums of the year.
The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart with 318,000 equivalent album units – the third-highest debut week of 2022 – and broke the record for the biggest streaming week for an R&B album by a female, with 404.6 million official-demand streams for the album's songs , according to Luminate. It spent a total of 10 weeks at the top of the chart, becoming the first female R&B album to hit double figures since Mariah Carey's self-titled debut spent 11 weeks at No. 1 in 1991.
SZA's admission is also fascinating in her recent interview British Vogue where he revealed he had two projects ready to arrive, though no release dates were revealed. According to the publication, SZA was also preparing a deluxe edition danger signal and her third studio album, Wool – the second of which was originally announced as the first.
“I think I make music from a more beautiful place. From a more likely place versus an angrier place,” he told the publication. “I don't identify with my brokenness. It's not my identity. It's shit that happened to me. Yes, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music changes because of that, the lighter I get.”
