After Taylor Swift had to cancel three tour dates in Austria due to a terror threat, authorities say the prime suspect has confessed to his harrowing plans. Taylor Swift canceled her scheduled Eras tour dates in Vienna after the arrest of two suspects who were planning to unleash a terror attack at the shows. According to Austrian officials, the prime suspect has confessed to plans to “kill as many people as possible outside the concert venue.” Authorities say the 19-year-old suspect pledged allegiance to the Islamic State after becoming radicalized online. The head of Austria’s State Security and Intelligence Directorate said the prime suspect wanted to employ knives or homemade explosives for the planned attack outside the stadium. All of this comes about a week after the fatal stabbing of several children at a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event in the United Kingdom. In 2019, Taylor described violence like the mass shooting at a Las Vegas music festival and the Manchester attack as his “greatest fear.” Authorities say materials from ISIS and al-Qaeda were found at the home of the second suspect, a 17-year-old who was reportedly hired earlier this week by a company that provides services to the venue. A spokesman for the singer has yet to respond to comments regarding the five concerts scheduled for next week in London. Authorities have reportedly stepped up security for the London dates.
