Earlier today (April 10) it was announced that DJ Mr. Cee had passed away. The Hip-Hop community is now paying their respects to the deceased.
It is always a huge loss to a civilization when one of their greatest architects passes on. Brooklyn, New York born Calvin LeBrun would be introduced to DJ Big Daddy Kane for the first time. Years later he would be instrumental in discovering The Notorious BIG and served as executive producer for his debut album. Ready to die. When he decided to step away from DJing for rappers full-time, he took his talents to New York's top Hip-Hop radio station HOT 97. During his nearly 20-year tenure, he became not only a mainstay of the station's programming through Upheaval At Noon and Friday Night Live show but also synonymous with New York hip-hop.
Since the announcement of his death, the who's who in Rap have saluted DJ Mister Cee and needless to say, he will be receiving his flowers for years to come. He was 57. Here are some of the top reactions from the Hip-Hop community and beyond.
