A meeting-cute goes terribly wrong to Strange Lovea new horror-thriller film delivered by its producers Late night with the devil and Barbarian. Rolling rock The trailer debuts exclusively today, starring Willa Fitzgerald (Reacher, Scream series) and Kyle Gallner (Smile, 2022 Scream) date night amidst a serial killer killing spree.
In the trailer, Fitzgerald's character asks a mustachioed Gallner, “Well, I have to ask you a question: Are you a serial killer?” The answer to her question is soon realized, as he turns out to be a gun-wielding, truck-driving killer who chases her through the countryside and winding roads. The story unfolds in six non-linear chapters, which seem to subvert the traditional “final girl” narrative.
The film directed and written by JT Mollner, released on August 23, was produced and shot by Giovanni Ribisi. “Before there was even a script, an image came to me…an image I couldn't shake: a woman in distress, running through the woods in slow motion, scrubbing at the hospital. I heard a certain song ('Love Hurts') and even had a sense of the exact frame rate, but I had no idea what it all meant,” Mollner said in a statement. “It felt like a very familiar narrative trope, but eventually everything came into focus and I saw a unique opportunity to present the conventional 'ultimate girl' and the conventional villain chasing her, in a very unconventional way.”
Ribisi added, “JT and I met through some friends at Kodak and share a love of analog filmmaking.”
The film will also star Ed Begley Jr.Better Call Saul, A Mighty Wind), and Barbara Hershey (Black Swan, Sneaky). Bill Block, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Giovanni Ribisi and Chris Ivan Cevic produced the film, with Ribisi serving as cinematographer.
