The Jesus Lizard have released the new song and music video “Alexis Feels Sick”, the second single from their upcoming comeback album, Shelfcomes out September 13th.
The first quarter of the four-and-a-half-minute song is devoted to David Wm. Sims' bass playing, whose introduction gives way to bass breaks and vocalist David Yow's commanding, deceptively catchy screams. The arrangement remains unpredictable throughout, shifting from textured guitar passages to tectonic post-hardcore riffs.

The astonishing video is the work of Yow himself and delves into the creepier side of AI art. Deformed faces and figures melt and become disoriented, and the last part of the video is made up of terrifying depictions of AI dogs.
“The video for ‘Alexis Feels Sick’ is a sickening, comically impressionistic portrait of late American capitalism… with some puppies,” Yow said, with guitarist Duane Denison adding that it’s a “study in greed, gluttony and… dogs.”
That makes two strong singles from Shelf following the excellent “Hide & Seek,” a Heavy Song of the Week selection last month. Shelf marks Jesus Lizard's first new album in 26 years, since 1998. Blue.
The reunited noise rockers will promote the album with a series of shows in the fall that kick off on September 7 with an appearance at the Hopscotch Music Festival. The band will be touring through December and also have shows scheduled through May of next year (get tickets here). here).
