Taylor Swift surprised her fans and the millions of viewers tuning into the Grammys on Sunday night when she announced she was releasing a brand new album titled Department of Tormented Poets on April 19. And now it has another surprise: The full tracklist has arrived, including some notable features.
Swift revealed the tracklist on Monday night (Feb. 5) on her social media accounts, sharing new artwork for the project that appears to include 16 song titles and a bonus track called “The Manuscript.”
The biggest surprises of the tracklist reveal are the album's two guests: Post Malone on album opener “Fortnight” and Florence + The Machine on “Florida!!!” Swift has never collaborated with either artist, although they have all expressed their admiration for each other in the past.
In Advertising signThe 2015 cover featuring Florence Welch, frontwoman of Florence + The Machine revealed the advice she received from friend and mutual fan Swift: “Taylor said you should sing about what's going on in your life.” Swift, in turn, gushed around Wells to Advertising sign. “What sets Florence apart? Everything. Whenever I'm around her, she's the most magnetic person in the room — surrounded by people who are fascinated by the idea of being around her. But when he meets people, he gives them a warm compliment and immediately disarms them. There are very few people I've met in my life who are truly electric, and Florence is one of them.”
In an interview with Howard Stern in October, Malone recalled running into Swift and the superstar paying her a compliment. “We were just walking by and she said, 'Oh my God! I am glad to see you. 'Better Now' is f—in' amazing!” Malone said Swift told him. “And I said, 'What? That's f—in' crazy, you're a great f—in' songwriter! Thank you very much.'”
Department of Tormented Poets will be Swift's first album of new material since October 2022 Midnight, which won album of the year and best pop vocal album at Sunday's Grammys. He also put out (Taylor's Version) re-recordings of it Speak now and 1989 in 2023, as she embarked on her Eras tour.
