His hosts The view hit out at Madonna on Friday (January 19) after the icon was sued by two New York men for starting her holiday tour two hours late.
“I personally wouldn't wait two hours to get a hot oil massage from George Clooney, let alone a concert from anyone,” host Joy Behar said during The viewHot Topics section. However, Sunny Hostin was not “bothered” by the situation. “I don't think she should be sued,” he said. “This is baked into Madonna. It's an icon. He's always late. When you go to a Madonna concert, you know you have to eat before, you have to light up before, and you're going to wait about two hours and hear a DJ.”
However, the band noted that most acts, including Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Jennifer Lopez and others, all start their shows on time.
“Enter the name of any person who is two hours late. It's disrespectful,” added Sara Haines. “You're literally running away from your fans who paid to come watch you. You can be a diva. You shouldn't act like a diva. For me, Madonna is not there.”
Haines continued, “Beyoncé? Always on time. Taylor Swift, Pink, that's called respect. That's how you grow. You respect someone's time the way you expect them to respect yours. You appeared here. They paid hundreds of dollars.”
Madonna is currently facing a federal class-action lawsuit after she allegedly started her three New York concerts later than scheduled, a delay that her accusers — showgoers Michael Fellows and Jonathan Haden — say hurt them and to other ticket buyers who “had to get up early to go to work” the next day.
In a complaint filed Wednesday (Jan. 17) in federal court in Brooklyn, Fellows and Hadden allege that Madge breached its contract with concertgoers and violated New York state laws by opening the shows at Brooklyn's Barclays Center after 10:30 p.m. instead of the scheduled 8:30 p.m. The two men say attendees were “trapped in the middle of the night” as the show ended after 1am, and some faced limited public transport options. They also point out that the concert took place “on a weeknight,” meaning they “had to get up early to go to work and/or attend to family responsibilities the next day.”
