Channeling the whimsy of everyone's favorite colored bricks, DJ Groovecellar has elevated the concert video experience to fun new heights.
The Swiss DJ, whose real name is Pascal Keller, has successfully merged months of research in stop-motion technology with the vibrant world of LEGO to build a large-scale rave.
In numbers, the laborious task is nothing short of impressive. After spending more than 200 hours of meticulous filming and editing, Keller put together 3,000 individual images using three cameras from various angles to ensure every LEGO character and scene syncs with the rhythms and melodies of her music, she says. Soundtracked by DJ Groovecellar's remix of his own original track, “Salt,” the ambitious concert features a LEGO stage with the glow of intricate and functional LEGO lighting rig setting the stage.
As you take your place at the brick-built booth, the audience, made up of hundreds of LEGO ravers, begins to dance to the house beat. The vibe then changes as the beat fades to highlight the song's vocalist, Chip Deva, whose voice takes center stage in a moment of awe in the crowd.
Putting together the dynamic spectacle was clearly no easy task – a testament to Keller's ability to lay the bricks of a new type of stop-motion entertainment experience. Watch their full LEGO concert below and find out more here.
