Don't be surprised if your toddler signs before you do.
Playtime Engineering has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming device, myTRACKS. Designed to make their line of Blipblox synthesizers sit somewhere between a toy and a music production suite, the instrument is designed to help kids start exploring the world of electronic music production in a way that's accessible to them. .
You may be surprised to learn how many features this simple device includes. Despite a colorful paint job that makes it look like a Fisher-Price toy, the product page says myTRACKS has a built-in microphone and speakers, backlit polychromatic hit pads, and a MIDI out port so you can connect elsewhere. The instrument is also battery-powered so kids can create from anywhere they want.
As for music production tools, there are nearly 50 customizable instruments, including effects like filters, delay, and pitch bend. Users can also take advantage of recording capabilities that allow them to record and edit or loop their sounds.
The Kickstarter campaign for Playtime Engineering's myTRACKS will launch on Tuesday, April 9. You can sign up for early access here and watch the company's extensive breakdown video, detailing many of its features, below.
