Tiffany Haddish he went to Israel to find out what was going on Israel and Gauze and was moved to react to the backlash after a post he made on social media.
On Wednesday (Feb. 21), comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish referenced her trip to Israel, which she recounted in a social media post, prompting swift backlash for her behavior. When asked by TMZ's Harvey Levin why she would be taking this trip, Haddish replied, “I can't believe everything I'm reading. I want to go see for myself. I want to talk to the people who are here, who actually had family members who were hostages who were taken away from their homes.”
Haddish went on to say that she also intended to go to Gaza, where more than 30,000 Palestinians were killed during shelling and military action by the Israel Defense Forces in their campaign of retaliation against the October 7, 2023, attack by the militant group Hamas, which had as a result 1,200 lives. “I care about both sides, I care about humanity,” the Girls Trip actress continued: “I know there's a lot of religious stuff going on, land control… It's about human beings. Human beings, man.”
Haddish has some kinship to the Jewish people of Israel, having her parentage confirmed five years ago following a DNA test. The now-deleted Instagram video showed the 44-year-old on the plane flight with a drink in hand and joking around. The responses to this were fast and furious, with one commentator named Katrina and reads “Sippin' on a mimosa on your way to see a genocide is CRAZY.” Some applauded Hadis and wished her a safe journey. The video was later deleted and reportedly lost more than 14,000 followers.
Levin asked Haddish about the responses to this video. “That's what I'm trying to tell you. I do it myself. I don't have a whole family of men or a man to support me. I'm doing it alone,” she choked out. “I'm learning on my own.” He added, “The average woman wouldn't have the courage to go and see for herself. There are a lot of scary a— b——— out here, and you can all be scared. But I'll go ahead and follow my gut.” She also mentioned Mo'Nique, who had called her recently Club Shay Shay podcast interview. The latest post on her Instagram account, a repost from a group called Louder Creators, appears to hit back at her critics about the trip.
