With all the talk about the best female rappers these days (see our list), the Queen of Miami Rap had to put in her two cents — and you might be surprised by her pick.
Trina sat down with YouTuber Carlos King on the web series Reality with the King for about an hour and a half and spoke on a wide range of topics. One of those topics was when Trina caused an uproar over Beyoncé's selection as Queen of Rap last year. That's when he said HipHopDX“[Beyoncé] she is the number one female rapper when she raps. There is no sleep in the queen.”
Around 1:06:30, referring to her interview at One Music festival, she tells Carlos, “I was asked who [the Queen of Rap] And I said, 'The Queen B, Beyoncé.' She blamed her answer on having recently experienced the Renaissance tour and being in the heat of the moment after the show, but her answer still hasn't changed.
“First of all, I'm fresh off the Renaissance tour, let's be very clear,” he said. “You can't deny or credit anything that Beyoncé does, I just love Beyoncé. He was in a hype of the moment.” He added, “It's going to be Beyoncé above all for me. I just love Beyoncé, she's top, top tier, pushing the envelope beyond envelopes.”
Around the 50-minute mark, Trina also talks about her song “BAPS” with Nicki Minaj and the controversy surrounding the release, and how the Queens rapper was one of the first people to reach out when her mother died of cancer in 2019 .
