Every TroyBoi fan knows a heater is coming as soon as they hear the letters of his name spelled out in his signature voice-coded tone. His new 4 ON THE DA FLOOR PE is no exception, and surprisingly offers a collection of house tracks that guarantee to fill dance floors, as its title promises.
TroyBoi released “Dhunga” and “Híbrido” in April and May, respectively, to introduce fans to a new facet of his ever-changing style. The full EP includes a pair of new tracks, “Viper” and “Petrunko.” While these tracks mark a change of direction for the renowned trap music producer, fans can easily identify the signature sensual style that permeates every release in his catalog.
“Viper” fuses house and reggaeton with the help of Guaynaa, a Puerto Rican rapper and singer. An energizing beat undercuts his vocals, mixing with the upbeat sound of trumpets to deliver a track designed for packed dance floors. Meanwhile, “Petrunko” is a return to form with its slower, but no less ecstatic trap arrangement, where fleeting vocals cut through a whimsical sound design.
“I'm an artist that loves to experiment with multiple genres,” TroyBoi said in a press release. “This project is a moment that shows my appreciation for house/four on the floor beats and showcases it through my production.”
The new EP arrives amid a string of high-profile performances for TroyBoi, who in 2024 performed at Coachella and EDC Las Vegas, among other major festivals. Now on the horizon are Beyond Wonderland, EDC Orlando, and a show at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, to name a few.
