Jamal Sean Barrow has since turned his life around for the better after serving time for the 1999 nightclub shooting that also involved disgraced Bad Boy CEO Sean Diddy Combs. But the victim of that incident calls the rapper-turned-politician a “crook.”
It has been detected HipHopDXNatania Reuben, the victim of the 1999 New York nightclub shooting that changed Shyne's life and ended J.LO and Diddy's relationship, has spoken out more about that infamous night with The Art of Dialogue.
During the interview, Reuben further clarified her statement that Shyne is no longer the man who allegedly pulled the trigger that night.
“I said on my TikTok, Shyne didn't shoot me because he didn't shoot it. But Shyne is a fraud,” he said. “Everybody's like, 'Oh, we knew Shyne was innocent.' No, you don't know anything because he's not innocent at all.”
Diddy was found not guilty of the shooting, but the “Bonnie-N-Shyne” creator was sentenced to a decade in prison. After his release, he returned to his native Belize, where he is now a philanthropist and politician, and Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives.
Ruben also believes that Shane is using her, saying that he didn't shoot her to boost himself and become Prime Minister of Belize.
“He's going to brush me off saying Shane didn't shoot me to try and leverage himself to get that premiership […] You're nothing but a shyster, a shady car salesman, a dress-up con, a liar,” Reuben said.
She also claims that Shyne still owes her money, “You still owe me money. In the settlement, Shyne was responsible… He had no money to pay.”
Diddy paid Reuben nearly $2 million as part of a settlement after the shooting, also claiming the rapper/mogul is still “harassing” her, a claim he has denied.
Shyne hits back at Reuben saying he wasn't the shooter
In response to Reuben's dictum that Barrow was not the trigger man, Shine proclaimed his innocence during a press conference in Belize.
“It hurts when you hear the victim say it was Diddy who shot her. This is the most remarkable thing.”
“I was saying all this. Everyone knew since then that I was the fall guy, but my political enemies and my critics tried to make me this criminal, but everyone knew that I was a young kid who fell.
“I'm just saying I've maintained my innocence all this time. I said I was defending myself. I didn't get into who did what. But the victim tells you who did what.”
