Warner Music is restructuring its music division in Mexico to strengthen its market presence and product quality, the company says Advertising sign. The revamped division will feature a culturally aligned A&R team and a strategic marketing framework designed to drive artist development across multiple territories.
He will be the head of the initiative Thomas Rodriguez, president of Warner Music Mexico & Mexican Music, who will head the restructured Mexican division. “The expertise, adaptability and commercial acumen of the Mexican Music team will enhance our vision to grow and globalize the genre, strengthening Warner as a leading player,” he said in a statement.
Reuben Abraham, Warner Music's GM of Mexican music, will oversee the A&R and marketing teams from Los Angeles, aligning strategies across the United States and Mexico. “We are ready to offer the industry's leading platform for the genre, supported by top professionals and customized trading options that meet both the present needs and the future prospects of Mexican Music,” he said.
The division's A&R team will include Brian Placencia as director of A&R. Plascencia brings extensive experience from previous roles at Universal Music and Univision Records and as West Coast label manager at Machete Music, where he was instrumental in launching artists such as Larry Hernandez, Fidel Rueda, El Potro de Sinaloa and Roberto Tapia. As a founding partner of Alianza Records, Plascencia has also developed artists such as Grupo H-100 and Edicion Especial.
Otherwise, the A&R team will include an Associate Director of A&R Armando Lopezwho brings over a decade of expertise in marketing, music production and concert promotion. Cesar Carrillo has been named senior A&R manager, with 18 years of experience in the local Mexican music scene. His experience covers music production, artist management for acts such as Tomas Ballardo and Los Buitres de Culiacán and booking Legado 7 with Lumbre Music. At FM Entertainment, he helped manage programs for giants of Mexican music such as Ramón Ayala, Banda Machos and Fidel Rueda.
Maria Angela Batizthe label's Mexican music marketing director, will continue to play a critical role with her extensive experience and expertise in the genre, leading the development of marketing strategies and campaigns across the division.
Warner Music's expansion into Mexican music is supported by its partnership with the company's independent distribution and label services arm ADA, enabling a range of services and partnership opportunities.
Warner Music's Mexican music roster also includes Grupo Codiciado, El Komander, Pesado, DannyLux and Los Aptos.
