Random hookups are everywhere in rap these days – and the latest sees Lil Baby jump across the pond to link up with London's Central Cee for the song “BAND4BAND.” The UK drill beat — produced by Ghana Beats and Geenaro — is a certified rattler with Cench and Baby, as the title suggests, going band to band.
Directed by Wowa, the video shows their respective teams driving through London in Lamborghini Urus in different colors that look very presidential. Central Cee kicks things off and quickly loses his mind spitting, “I'm not in the mood 'cause my flight got delayed/ So I hopped on a private jet and askin' the pilot the ETA/ Lambo” parked on the strip ground, all in the gang me and my DJ paid/ Why is my husband talking about Insha'Allah? These times, he doesn't even pray.”
Lil Baby then comes in to cool things down with his signature rapping style, like he's never lied about anything in his life. “Brother gonna do it for some shoes and some clothes, see what he'll do for a necklace/ “Truck Rari, lookin' like a spider, crawlin' a dollar with simple accessories (Damn)/ Made I wanna go harder, I like it her whole aura, I think I'm obsessed with her,” he spits like a character in an Iceberg Slim novel.
It's always dope when unexpected collaborations turn out to be improbable. Whip it up this Memorial Day weekend and get the trunk rattling in this reasonably priced sedan while you go back and forth like Cench and the hero.
While Baby has been relatively quiet this year, Central Cee has been active. Abandon the R&B-leaning”I will» in February and recently divisive old foe Digga D in “CC Freestyle.”
Maybe all this activity means it's getting ready to fall the rumored Can't Rush Greatness album This year. We certainly hope so.
