Pretty Lights' strands are shining brighter than ever after a rare collaborative performance with Tipper at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Along with his live band Pretty Lights, whose real name is Derek Vincent Smith, they played the iconic outdoor venue on August 2 and invited Tipper up on stage. The influential electronic music producer, who rarely makes guest appearances, joined Smith for an impromptu scratch session that fans of both artists won’t soon forget.
“It's a pleasure to have such a legend back home with us,” Smith said.

Tipper had joined Smith onstage a couple of times in previous years, including a standout Pretty Lights performance at the Gorge Amphitheatre in August 2017. The rare joint performance at Red Rocks, however, is likely their last. It came amid a de facto farewell run for Tipper, who in February announced her impending retirement from touring.
“After spending most of my adult life touring and playing, I feel it's time to stop,” he announced in an email to fans at the time. “I'm so grateful for all the support you've given me over the years. We'll be calling it quits sometime in 2025. Peace and quiet.”
Meanwhile, Pretty Lights is gearing up to continue its Soundship Spacesystem 2024 Check Your Vector Tour with a pair of momentous Las Vegas stadium shows scheduled for Halloween weekend, October 25-26.
