There doesn't seem to be a YSL family reunion on the horizon after Young Thug's release from prison. Thugger seemingly slammed Gunna in a tweet on Saturday (November 9) before deleting the details from X, but the damage was done as the message spread like wildfire on social media.
“Stop acting like friends on the internet, I don't know you my friend,” he wrote cryptically. A few minutes later, the tweet was gone, but not before it was captured:
There has been a lot of speculation from fans about Thug and Gunna's relationship status. While Gunna is still signed to YSL Records, he's largely avoided talking about how things are between him and Thugger. “It's the same,” Guna said vaguely XXL earlier this year. “It's love, always. Our relationship is our relationship.”
Gunna and Thug were both arrested in the May 2022 56-count extended indictment in the YSL RICO case. Guna and his attorney Steve Sandow entered an Alford plea to secure his release in December 2022, while Thug remained behind bars until he reached his own plea deal on Oct. 31.
Sadow played down the rumors that came with Gunna's Alford plea deal. “Guna didn't initiate to get out of jail,” Sandow said on social media at the time. “He has not said anything and is not cooperating. His statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”
Thugger was released from prison on Halloween after entering a plea. Judge Paige Reese Whitaker handed him a 15-year suspended sentence, which allowed Thug to walk free after the hearing.
Gunna's brother DP walked in The Shade Room'small comment section of a post about Thug's tweet, where it appears there is no love lost between the two artists. “Trust and believe that the feeling is mutual,” he wrote.
Thug hasn't elaborated on the deleted tweet, but his first musical move appears to be teaming up with Lil Baby, who has been outspokenly distancing himself from Gunna since his former frequent collaborator's release.
“Wham let's drop one on these peter rats,” Thug tweeted. Signs reading “Whatever Wham Says Goes” have also appeared throughout Los Angeles.
