A co-defendant in Young Thug's YSL RICO case has agreed to a plea deal, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The report says Quamarvious Nichols, 29, reached a deal with prosecutors on Tuesday (October 29) in which he pleaded guilty to violating Georgia's anti-extortion laws in exchange for dropping several charges, including murder and weapons charges. Per NBC News, Supreme Court Paige Whitaker agreed to a plea bargain of 20 years for Nichols, although he will have to serve only seven years in prison followed by 13 years of probation, including credit for the two years already served in prison. He faced a possible life sentence.
Nichols' deal means only four other co-defendants remain on Young Thug's side in the trial, which is now the longest-running criminal case in Georgia state history after 10 months of jury selection and another 11 months of testimony.
“Stay out of any kind of trouble,” Whitaker reportedly told Nichols in court while handing down the negotiated sentence. “Make this a birthday present to yourself, your wife and your family.”
Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, has remained in jail since his arrest in May 2022. His girlfriend, Mariah The Scientist, stood by his side while attending several court dates and making several prison visits throughout the case.
Last week, Whittaker considered whether to declare a mistrial in the case, which was sparked by an incident involving a state witness who disclosed “sensitive information” to members of the jury. If granted, a mistrial would require prosecutors to either start over or drop the case altogether.
