Green Day will perform two of their classic albums, Dookie and idiot americain its entirety at every stop on their upcoming stadium tour.
Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt confirmed the band's plans in an interview with Rolling Stone. “What a bloody moment it's going to be,” Dirnt said. “We had never done anything like this before. And there's a good chance we'll never do it again.”
Green Day's “The Saviors Tour” coincides with the 30th anniversary of Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot. the band has played Dookie and American Idiot in its entirety on a few special occasions over the years, but never before on a full-fledged tour.
Dirnt estimates that it will take Green Day 90 minutes to perform both albums, leaving 35 to 45 minutes of the band's set for “other things,” including material from their new album. saviors.
“The Saviors Tour” will be launched on May 30 in Spain. A North American leg, with special guests Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas, officially begins on July 29 in Washington, DC. Tour tickets are available. here.
