Sophie Turner denies child abduction claims against Joe Jonas

Sophie Turner dropped her lawsuit against Joe Jonas amid their divorce.

In September, the Jonas Brother filed for divorce from the actress after four years of marriage, with the filing stating that their relationship had “irretrievably broken down.” After their split, tabloid rumors and what appeared to be a calculated smear campaign against Turner ensued.

The couple married on May 1, 2019, in a Las Vegas wedding chapel, and married again in Sarrians, France, on June 29, 2019. Turner and Jonas had two children together: their first daughter on July 22, 2021, and later a second baby on July 2022.

Shortly after Jonas filed for divorce, Turner filed a lawsuit against him, asking him to return the children to their residence in England, claiming that the singer had the children “removed or wrongfully detained” since September 20 of last year. According to the lawsuit, the actress claimed that she and Jonas had agreed to make England their “forever home” in December 2022 and were in the process of buying a house last April before filming began. “The parties' agreed plan was that when the mother finished filming on September 14, 2023, she would travel to New York to collect the children and return home to England,” the filing said. “The party plan was for the mother to spend a week with the family in New York and then return home to England with the children on September 20.”

According to Turner, she learned that Jonas had filed for divorce through the media on or around September 1st. The couple issued joint statement on their Instagram accounts on September 6 saying that they had mutually decided to amicably end the marriage.

“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” the statement read. “There are many speculative accounts as to why, but really this is a joint decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
