Chicago singer-songwriter Jessica Viscius will release her new album this spring
Bnny, a.k.a. Chicago singer-songwriter Jessica Viscius, has returned with the new single “Good Stuff.”
The track opens with meditative, brooding synths (“I still remember the first time you said you loved me/Texting me at 2am from across the country”) before the tempo picks up and evolves into euphoric, blissed-out acceptance (“I’m hanging onto the sunshine”), making for one of the most laidback breakup songs of the year.
Viscius confirmed this in a statement, saying “Good Stuff” is “hopeful, optimistic even. Or perhaps it’s just the denial, hoping things will be different next time, hoping that love can save you.”
“Good Stuff” is the first taste of Viscius’ new album One Million Love Songs, out April 5 via Fire Talk Records. It follows her 2021 debut Everything, written after the death of her partner, Chicago musician Trey Gruber.
“I wanted to make songs that are exciting to play — songs that make me feel happy,” Viscius says of One Million Love Songs. “This album is about love after loss, getting older, and just trying to have fun with a broken heart.”
