Recorded by the trio of Tom Skinner and Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead between Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, wall of eyes features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra, with production and mixing credits to Sam Petts-Davies. It arrives as a follow-up to its debut in 2022. A light to attract attention.
The eight-track project was announced in November last year with the release of the album's title track and accompanying music video, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Previous singles include “Friend of a Friend,” which was first performed during The Smile’s 2022-2023 tour, and “Bending Hectic.”
In his review, ConsequenceJonah Krueger praised wall of eyes, calling it a “vibrant, swirling world that distills the foundations of its predecessor down to their essentials before letting what's left flourish and mutate into its own beast.” He also named “Friend of a Friend” a standout song and wrote that it “quickly established itself as one of the best songs the trio has created thus far.”
