Big Machine Records and Surfdog Records have announced a reimagining of the late Glenn Campbell's 2011 album, ghost on the canvasAvailable April 19.
Noble Glen Campbell Duets – Ghost Sessions on the Canvas, the star-studded project combines Rhinestone Cowboy's original vocals with newly recorded contributions from artists including Brian Wilson, Carole King, Dolly Parton, Elton John and Dave Stewart. Also appearing on the album are Hope Sandoval, Linda Perry, Sting, Brian Setzer, Daryl Hall, Eric Church and Eric Clapton. Pre-orders are in progress.
As a preview of the album, you can listen to the reworkings of “Hold on Hope” with Church and “Nothing But the Whole Wide World” with Clapton below.
At the time of its release, the original ghost on the canvas was billed as Campbell's farewell album. In it, the country legend teamed up with a younger generation of songwriters, including Paul Westerberg, Bob Pollard of Guided by Voice, and Jakob Dylan. Additionally, Billy Corgan, Dick Dale, members of The Dandy Warhols, Josh Freese and Setzer contributed instrumentation.
Campell died in August 2017 at the age of 81 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Her last album, Byewas released that June.
