We looked for accommodation within five miles of the festival grounds (Empire Polo Club) at most and included many options that are within walking distance of Coachella. Transportation is very difficult (and expensive) during Coachella, so this is a big plus. We've also only included options at different price points (Coachella accommodation gets very expensive over the two weekends), though you'll get the best deals by booking with a group of friends and splitting the bill.

As mentioned, finding affordable accommodation for Coachella is nearly impossible, making this four-person hostel a solid deal at $729 a night (only available on Weekend 2). It's about a 15-minute drive (or 25-minute bike ride) from Coachella Gardens, and includes a queen-size bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room, as well as a fully equipped kitchen.

Another good budget option for Coachella (weekend 2 only) is this “Boujievilla” guest suite in Indio. Despite being under $1,000 a night, the small bedroom is within easy walking distance of the festival grounds. How we picked the best Coachella Airbnbs

We poured over dozens of Airbnbs—and even stayed in a few—while researching this collection. We looked for accommodations that were closer than five miles away from the Empire Polo Club, but most are two or three miles from the Coachella site. Considering how expensive Coachella accommodations can be, we also factored heavily in price (when split between guests, usually) and overall bang for your buck in terms of amenities and space. After finding our favorite accommodations, we either stayed on Airbnb ourselves or made sure the place had at least a 4/5 star rating with at least 10 verified reviews (most have 50+ reviews).
