Ed Sheeran’s parents had an “unforgettable experience” on a private tour of the Louvre in Paris.
The British singer-songwriter, 33, surprised his mum Imogen and dad John with a private viewing at the iconic Paris museum in 2021.
“Imogen and I went to Paris to see Edward perform at the Global Citizen gig in front of the Eiffel Tower, which was extraordinary enough,” John, who worked as an art curator for over 40 years, said in a new interview to promote a fundraiser for the Ipswich Art Society’s Young Artists Fund.
“He then surprised us on Sunday evening by taking us with his wife Cherry to the Louvre – he’d arranged to have the whole place to ourselves for three hours,” the singer’s father continued. “I think it was his way of saying thank you to us.”
John explained that the exclusive viewing gave him the chance to “study” the Mona Lisa.
“It is the only time I’ve been able to study the Mona Lisa without the crowds – it was an unforgettable experience,” he said.
The Bad Habits hitmaker, his wife and his parents enjoyed a three-hour tour of the museum on 26 September 2021, one day after Ed performed at the Global Citizen concert to raise awareness of extreme poverty.
