Gesaffelstein has released a new single, “Hard Dreams,” his first original music in nearly five years.
Fusing dystopian rhythms with raw human emotions, the song is one of 11 to appear on the electronic music icon's upcoming album. SPECTRUMwhose launch is scheduled for March 29.
Gesaffelstein joined forces with fellow Frenchman Yan Wagner, who co-wrote the song and provided its haunting vocals. The Parisian producer and singer-songwriter plays a fundamental role in SPECTRUMaccording to a media alert shared by the management of Gesaffelstein, Savoir Faire.
“While Aleph It was primarily an instrumental album, and hyperion welcomed a number of features, SPECTRUM finally gives voice to Gesaffelstein through the talented artist and vocalist Yan Wagner,” according to Savoir Faire.
The eerie tendrils of Gesaffelstein's signature sound weave through “Hard Dreams,” its cyberpunk synths cutting through the mix like a hot knife through butter. But amid the bleak soundscapes is an undeniable emotional undercurrent, the kind of anguished romanticism that permeates many of his best songs: “Finger on the trigger, letting it all out / Overflowing with desire, I can deal without it,” Wagner sings .
