Local Natives return to announce their sixth album But I will wait for youwhich will be released on April 19.
But I will wait for you It's a companion piece from last year. Time will wait for no one, and was conceived during the same sessions with producer John Congleton. The Los Angeles quintet says in a statement that the new album is “the second half of a great body of music we made together” and serves as “perhaps not an answer to a question, but an exhalation to an inhalation.” See the album's artwork and track listing below.
As a preview of But I will wait for you, Local Natives have shared the album's lead single, “April,” along with the song's music video. Featuring dueling vocals from Kelcey Ayer and Taylor Rice, “April” is an upbeat slice of reverb-ridden soft rock. The band uses a towering synth line as one of the dominant features of the song, and adds light congas, a wah pedal guitar, and smooth harmonies throughout.
The music video for “April” was inspired by Francis Ford Coppola and features the band spread across downtown Los Angeles. Occasionally they come together for some austere choreography, and all the while, the band members talk busily into old cell phones, someone spies on them through binoculars, and the camera pans a significant distance around Pershing Square in Los Angeles. Look the following video.
The band currently has a series of US tour dates scheduled for May, beginning with an appearance at the BeachLife Festival in Redondo Beach, California on May 4. Check out Local Natives' tour dates below and get tickets to all of their upcoming shows here.
Local Natives' last album was 2023. Time will wait for no onewhich we named as one of our favorite albums of July 2023. Check out our interview with the band at Mad Cool Festival 2022, where they talked about the 10th anniversary of hummingbird and begin working on his now two-part album project.
