Australian music festival Splendour in the Grass has been cancelled.
Promoters of the festival announced on Wednesday that the 2024 edition, which Kylie Minogue and Arcade Fire were set to headline, would no longer be taking place between 19 and 21 July in North Byron Parklands.
“We know there were many fans excited for this year’s line-up and all the great artists planning to join us, but due to unexpected events, we’ll be taking the year off,” they announced on social media. “Ticket holders will be refunded automatically by Moshtix. We thank you for your understanding and will be working hard to be back in future years.”
Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco, co-CEOs of Secret Sounds and founders of Splendour, told festivalgoers they were “heartbroken” by the cancellation of the event, which has been held every year since 2001.
“We’re heartbroken to be missing a year especially after more than two decades in operation,” they said in the joint statement. “This festival has always been a huge community effort, and we’d like to thank everyone for their support and overall faith. We hope to be back in the future.”
They made the announcement a week after tickets to the three-day camping event went on sale.
The 2024 line-up also featured Future, Turnstile, G Flip, The Last Dinner Party, Fontaines D.C. and many more.
