Jack Harlow heads to the track as the headliner for Preakness LIVE, the day-long music and entertainment festival held in conjunction with the tickets%2Fartist%2F1185649″ data-type=”link” data-id=”https://ticketmaster.evyy.net/c/256585/264167/4272?subId1=RS&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ticketmaster.com%2Fpreakness-stakes-tickets%2Fartist%2F1185649″ rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”>2024 Preakness Stakes.
Taking place on Saturday, May 18, the Preakness is the second jewel in thoroughbred racing's Triple Crown, with a purse of $2 million. This year marks the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes, which is held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
Harlow is expected to take the stage immediately following the races, though the Preakness LIVE lineup will begin at 10:30 a.m. ET that day, with performances from Gryffin, Channel Tres, Frank Walker and Chantel Jeffries.
While Louisville-born Harlow has made appearances at his hometown Kentucky Derby (even calling out the Churchill Downs track on his 2022 single of the same name), this will mark the rapper's debut at the legendary Pimlico infield.
In addition to Harlow's performance, this year's Preakness LIVE event will feature a VIP area curated by Palm Tree Crew, DJ Kygo's entertainment and hospitality brand. Along with racetrack views, the “Palm Club” VIP area will offer an open bar and complimentary food, as well as bottle service tables for purchase.
Other activities during the games include the AfroPreak Lounge, in conjunction with Baltimore branding and marketing firm The Finn Group. Combining “Afro-Latin culinary offerings” with a backdrop of African and Caribbean racing and music, the lounge aims to provide “a different and exciting experience” to Preakness guests.
Fans and local residents alike will be able to take part in the George “Spider” Anderson Preakness Music and Arts festival, an annual community event named after the African-American jockey who famously won the 1889 Preakness Stakes. Taking place on May 11 in Baltimore's Park Heights neighborhood, the festival aims to be a “live music showcase and a focus on community businesses and partnerships.”
The Preakness events are once again organized by 1/ST, the thoroughbred horse racing, entertainment and betting brand that also produces the Miami Pegasus World Cup and the upcoming California Crown. Past Preakness performers include Megan Thee Stallion and Lauryn Hill.
“We're thrilled to be back for Preakness 149 and Preakness LIVE and to celebrate the incredible connection this event has with the city of Baltimore and Maryland,” says Belinda Stronach, President and CEO, 1/ST. “We are proud to work with outstanding national and local partners who share our vision for the future of the highest standards of world-class Thoroughbred racing combined with unique and elevated visitor experiences and exciting betting opportunities.”
In addition to the $2 million purse for the Preakness Stakes, organizers increased the prize money for the Dinner Party stakes to $500,000. There is a total of $3.3 million on the line this year, making the Preakness 149 race day the most lucrative in the event's history.
