Lyndsey Shelters:
Hi, I'm Lyndsay Havens from Billboard News and we're here with rising superstar singer-songwriter Conan Gray.
Your third album, the highly anticipated I found heaven It's out. Now let's start by looking back a little: When exactly did you start the process? And how do you know when you're ready for a new album to start?
Conan Gray:
So I started coming up with the album while I was on the road during the Superache tour. So a year and a half ago, almost two years ago, I would go and finish the shows. And then I would go to the basement of all the places I played because there's always a piano in the basement because the orchestra shows what they do in the theaters where I was playing. And I played, I just wrote songs, like while they were loading the trucks, and I played in the basement, like in the dark. And that's when the first… that's when I started noticing these different types of topics that I was writing about and realized, oh, maybe… maybe I'm ready to start working on another album. And then the first song I wrote for the album was “Found Heaven.”
