Femme It Forward (FIF) expands mentoring services with the launch of MUSE: Musicians Uplifting Stars Everyday. Created by FIF founder/chairman and Live Nation partner Heather Lowery, the new initiative has enlisted Alicia Keys, Teyana Taylor and Erykah Badu as advisors to help guide emerging female artists and creatives in the music industry. MUSE complements FIF's existing Next Gem Femme mentoring program, which focuses on emerging women, executives and entrepreneurs in the entertainment industry.
“I have made it my mission to pave the way for future generations of women to be equipped with the tools they need to sit at any table,” Lowery said in a statement. “MUSE has lived in my heart for the past three years and I am honored to actually launch it as a high-powered program to combat the disparities, inequities, and disturbing statistics surrounding the historical underrepresentation of women in the music industry, particularly women of color.”
The keys were added to the comments provided in the Advertising sign: “Finding ways to bring the women in this business together to hold each other up and let each other shine is one of my most important missions! I join the MUSE program as an advisor because we can never do enough to encourage women to feel as comfortable and connected as possible to share their ideas and take credit. We want to meet, meet and hire each other. I am honored to continue to provide access and opportunities that will turn into careers because She Is the Music.”
“It's a blessing to join Heather's MUSE program as a consultant and share the truths about my climbing and racing,” added Taylor. “It seemed like I was an overnight success, but that's not the case. God allows me to share the lessons I've learned about being busy, staying hungry, and keeping myself humble. Anyone who loves teaching loves knowledge, and I look forward to real conversations with my peers and the next generation of female artists so we can all succeed together.”
In their roles as MUSE advisors, the three stars will participate in a moderated conversation and unique Q&A programming, led by Lowery. MUSE has also selected a group of award-winning artists and creatives as hands-on mentors. These include songwriter/producer duo Nova Wav, artists Nija, Jozzy, Rapsody, Trina and Amber Riley as well as four-time Grammy Award-winning engineer Anne Mincielli. Music from FIF's MUSE Labs will also be featured on FIF's second compilation album Big Femme Energy, scheduled for late 2024.
