Frank Turner will attempt to break the world record for the most shows played in different cities in 24 hours. Set to hit the road on May 4th for one jam-packed rotation of the Earth, he’ll perform 15 shows across the UK, wrapping up mid-day on May 5th.
The event arrives in support of a few things. For starters, Turner will be releasing a new album, Undefeated, on May 3rd via Xtra Mile Recordings. Beyond that, the jaunt will be executed in partnership with Music Venue Trust, with each the shows hosted at grassroots music venues and independent record stores.
Fans planning to attend one of Turner’s record-breaking shows can expect a set that’s at least 20 minutes long. Tickets for the jaunt are available in several options, including stand-alone tickets and bundles with physical copies of Undefeated. Head to Turner’s website to purchase tickets.
“With nearly 3000 shows under my belt, I’ve never been one to do things by halves or shirk a challenge — I once played all 50 American states in 50 days, for goodness sake,” Turner said in a statement. “[But it’s] not just self-promotion either. We’re working with 13 independent record shops and 15 independent grassroots music venues for the shows, highlighting two bits of the infrastructure of the underground that I care about most. It’s going to be tough, but hopefully fun too. Come down for a show!”
The world record for most live shows played in different cities in 24 hours is currently held by Hunter Hayes, who performed 10 shows. Before him, The Flaming Lips held the record with eight shows.
