U2 star Adam Clayton has confirmed his divorce.
The bass player has split from his wife, Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho, after more than 10 years of marriage.
His spokesperson confirmed the news with a statement to Sunday World, saying the pair have “amicably divorced”.
“After more than 10 years of marriage, musician Adam Clayton and lawyer Mariana Teixeira de Carvalho have amicably divorced,” the statement read.
It concluded: “Both will continue to be fully involved in the care of their daughter and they request that the family’s privacy be respected.”
The former couple married in Dublin in September 2013.
The newlyweds then held a second ceremony days later on the French Riviera at a 14th-century château, with Adam’s band mates Bono and The Edge in attendance.
They went on to welcome daughter Alba in July 2017, taking out a personal advert in the Irish Times newspaper to share their happy news: “Adam and Mariana Clayton are delighted to announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl Alba.”
The rock star was once famously engaged to supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Campbell said she had good memories of their time together, telling the Irish Independent, “I only have very positive things to say about him. I am very proud of Adam.”
Clayton became a founder member of U2 alongside Bono, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr. in 1976.
