Mötley Crüe played a “secret” show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on Monday night (May 6). The band had announced the concert on social media under the nickname “1981” (the year they formed) and found a full house for the concert.
The 12-song set at the 600-capacity venue was mostly filled with Crüe's best-known songs like “Looks That Kill,” “Shout at the Devil,” “Dr. Feelgood,” “Girls, Girls, Girls” and the closing number, “Kickstart My Heart.” The band also played their new single, “Dogs of War” (their first song with new guitarist John 5), as well as a medley of covers featuring songs by The Beatles, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Beastie Boys and more.

Tickets for the club show sold out in five minutes when they went on sale last week, and fans quickly realized it was a Mötley Crüe concert.
The New York City concert followed a pair of shows in Atlantic City and preceded a headlining gig at Florida's Welcome to Rockville festival this Thursday (May 9). After that, the band has several headlining dates, festivals and state fairs scheduled from late June to mid-October (pick up tickets here).
Strong consequences We recently sat down with Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Vince Neil and John 5 to talk about new song “Dogs of War,” their new record deal with Big Machine and their longevity as a band, among other topics.
“We spend a lot of time being very grateful these days because our musical partners have come and gone,” Lee told us. “We are still here doing this and almost more than ever. It's really cool to see what we've done transcend a couple of generations. You're seeing 6-year-olds on their father's back saying, 'Scream! Shout!' – That says practically everything.”
