It's been a quarter of a century since Lauryn Hill released one of the greatest albums of Hip-Hop's golden age. Lauryn Hill's Bad Education. And although many fans gave up on the Fugees member releasing a follow-up project more than a decade ago, it seems there may still be hope for a proper sophomore album from the legendary music artist.
According TMZLauryn Hill hinted that a new album could very well be in the works as TMZ caught up with her son, YG Marley in New York on their way out. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and asked him if his iconic mom is working on new material in 2024. While she didn't confirm that Lauryn Hill was going to release a new project anytime soon, she hinted that there might be some things in the room ready to come out sometime in the near future. simply saying “Music is on the way”.
Per TMZ:
YG got a kick out of the question and politely suggested that there's reason for fans to be excited about his mom making new tunes — and shook even harder when we asked if he'd be helping her out in the studio.
As for Lauryn's position — well, check out the video for her reaction when we told her what YG let slip. The smiles that tremble in the family!
He joined YG for the night's TV debut as they performed their classic hit 'Ex-Factor', YG's breakout hit 'Praise Jah in the Moonlight' … and also premiered his new track 'Survival' … which he wrote with lyrics by his late grandfather Bob Marley.
Lauryn herself just nodded when asked about her son hinting that new music was on the way, but didn't comment further when asked when we could expect this new project that would make heads nod and bodies move. they vibrate like it's 1998.
