Kelly Price made her stance clear after offering Diddy a “prayer” following his apology in response to a 2016 surveillance video of the Bad Boy CEO attacking his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura that was released by CNN last week.
“For those who misinterpreted, misinterpreted or just chose to put words in my mouth, this is for clarity. If you choose to believe otherwise, that's your choice, but I'm not going to let anyone call me out on something I didn't do,” Price captioned the Instagram post on Sunday.
He continued: “I cannot offer redemption, forgiveness or Grace because my name is Kelly, not Jesus.
Therapy+Jesus doing the work of the Soul. What happens legally depends on the people who have that power.”
The singer expanded her comments to a 12 minute Instagram Live video, in which he claimed it was “more of a warning” and a push for Diddy to look inward and “do soul work.”
“I was basically telling him you have to change your heart, you have to change your mind, you have to change direction,” he added. “I was just saying he had to do the job.”
Price made sure to clarify that she wasn't trying to position herself as a “Diddy cheerleader” and that it's “not okay for someone else to do something so horrible,” while seemingly referencing the gruesome video of the attack.
“I told him, do what you gotta do to fix your soul, bro,” he said. “It's up to the courts to decide what to do with him legally. I have nothing to do with it.”
The “Friend of Mine” singer initially made the comment — which was heavily criticized — on Instagram following Diddy's apology before eventually deleting the comment, per Pulse.
“It is my earnest prayer that the power of the Holy Spirit will come upon you so that you will not only have a change of heart, but a change of mind and a change of direction,” he wrote. “I've seen you at your best and at your worst. I know what you were capable of when you were at your best despite the seductions of this industry. I want to see you and I want to see you soon make8 this in this business, but I need you to pray and I need you to receive from the most high. I need these prayers to be done sincerely. You are a unique talent and both sides that represent light and dark receive you anxiously. You know who God is! Lean not on your own understanding, but all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your course. [red heart emoji] CP.”
As the myriad sexual misconduct lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs pile up, CNN released chilling surveillance footage Friday (May 17) of Diddy assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel hallway in March 2016 .
Forty-eight hours later, Combs apologized for his “inexcusable” actions in a video posted to social media on Sunday.
“It's so hard to reflect on the darkest moments in your life, but sometimes you have to,” Diddy said. “I was upset. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I find no excuses. My behavior in this video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. loathe. I was disgusted when I did it, I am disgusted now.”
