Andrew McCarthy has presented the trailer for bratshis upcoming feature-length documentary about the Brat Pack, the famous '80s group of actors who appeared together in a number of popular films.
Produced by ABC News Studios, brats It was written and directed by McCarthy (Pretty in Pink, the St. Elmo's Fire, the weekend at Bernie's). The documentary will trace the origins, history and impact of the Brat Pack from the early '80s to the present day, and will detail the experiences of actors and filmmakers working in The breakfast club, Saint Elmo's Fireand more.
In addition to McCarthy, several members of the Brat Pack will appear in the documentary, including Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Demi Moore, Jon Cryer, Timothy Hutton and Lea Thompson. The top writers, directors and production staff of the era will also appear (without director John Hughes, who passed away in 2009).
“The Brat Pack has cast a long shadow over my life and career,” McCarthy said in a statement. “After all these years, I was curious to see how it had affected my fellow Brat Pack members. What I found was surprising and liberating.” The documentary follows McCarthy's 2021 memoir that largely revolved around her Brat Pack experience, titled Brat: a story from the 80s.
Last year, Sheedy told podcast host Kyle Meredith that he would be part of McCarthy's documentary and said that although he was hesitant at first, he agreed once he heard that Emilio Estevez would be involved.
brats is a co-production between ABC News Studios, Neon and Network Entertainment. Premieres June 13 on Hulu.
Meanwhile, a Saint Elmo's Fire The television revival was underway in 2019, but NBC confirmed last year that the project was no longer in development.
