Morgan Wallen was set to open his bar in downtown Nashville over Memorial Day weekend, but those plans have been put on hold.
Wallen's This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen, located at 107 4th Ave. N., will not open this weekend as planned, according to representatives of TC Restaurant Group, the organization that partnered with Wallen to open the facility, and which is also behind other Nashville Celebrity Bars by Luke Bryan , Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean. No new opening date has been given.
A statement from Wallen's This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen issued at Advertising sign read, “We are proud of our team who worked tirelessly to prepare Morgan Wallen's This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen for opening. The initial construction of a six-story space with hundreds of team members is a huge job and a complex process.”
The statement continues, “When we open, we want this bar to be a great experience for guests. Unfortunately, the process takes more time and we are unable to open and offer this experience this Memorial Day weekend. Rest assured it will be worth the wait. We look forward to welcoming guests soon.”
Source says Advertising sign that the restaurant/bar is awaiting final inspections, but declined to consider whether TC Restaurant Group had been denied a catering license (which allows a business to sell spirits, wine and beer), as reported by the website, Scoop Nashville, or had yet applied. The source confirmed that the grand opening postponement is not related to the Nashville Metro Council's decision earlier this week to deny approval for an exterior sign for the bar.
On Tuesday (May 21), the council rejected plans for Wallen's 20-foot-tall exterior sign – reading “aerial trespass” that would have encroached on the city-owned sidewalk – for the six-story building. Thirty council members voted against the sign, with only three members voting in favor and four abstaining. Some council members cited Wallen's past controversial incidents, including using a racial slur in January 2021 and his felony arrest last month for throwing a chair off the six-story roof of Eric Church's Chief bar, as reasons for the rejection. the signal.
Wallen announced the bar's May 4 opening at one of his three sold-out shows at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, though he never specified an exact date. “It's over 4th Avenue right next to the Ryman [Auditorium], and it will open Memorial Day weekend, so I hope to see you all there,” Wallen said from the stage. The bar's official instagram took the video of Wallen making the announcement, but has since taken it down and now only has a Position with a video of downtown Nashville featuring the name of Wallen's bar and the words “Coming Summer 2024.”
