In the fourth episode of 'Billboard Unfiltered,' Billboard staffers Damien Scott and Carl Lamarre break down the 15 most scathing tracks in rap battle history. They delve into J. Cole's full-length “Grippy,” Sexyy Red's newest album and her career outlook, and more!
Carl Lamarre:
“Ether” was scathing, more scathing for me because that's what it took for Hov to get to that point. It's clear that Hov has self-esteem issues. By the way, I love you, Uncle Hov.
Damian Scott:
That's why I think people hold it to a different standard. If Drake rapped about “Grippy,” no one would care.
Carl Lamarre:
What I appreciate about Sexyy is her authenticity. She's here twerking at a Zach Bryan concert. You don't see that every day, you know what I'm saying? We're back from Memorial Day weekend.
Damian Scott:
It's just the two of us.
Carl Lamarre:
Just the two of us. Trevor Anderson is in Paris. He went to see Nadal and he took an L unfortunately, quite his. But we will keep it in the memory of Trevor and Nadal. We caused a bit of a stir last week on the Internet. We publish our Top 15 of the most biting Dis songs of all time.
Damian Scott:
Yeah.
Carl Lamarre:
I think before we dive into, you know, 15 to 1, we should break down, because there was a lot of confusion, like the biggest criticisms of all time.
Damian Scott:
It's not the best.
Carl Lamarre:
The most scathing.
Damian Scott:
It is not the best, nor the best. We watched everyone make their biggest and best list. And we've been going back and forth on how to approach it for a while, like, oh, we should do something in this world.
