Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria have announced a new reality show on TLC, titled The Baldwins. The program, which will immerse itself in the daily life of the actor, his wife and his seven young children, will air in 2025.
Finally responding to years of calls for such a program from absolutely no one, The Baldwins was announced via Instagram with a promo showing the first look at the family dynamic. Watch it below.
“We invite you into our home to experience the ups and downs, the good, the bad, the wild and the crazy,” the Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actor managed to say with very little enthusiasm or credibility. “Home is the place we like to be most,” he continued through vignettes of his children shouting at the camera.
Reactions to the ad began to pour in, with many commenters rejecting the idea of exposing young children to cameras like TLC did in its heyday, when shows like John and Kate Plus 8 and 19 children and counting prospered. “Lord I need some anxiety meds after seeing that,” one user shared. “The screaming in this video is enough to make me change the channel!” said another.
“Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have been making headlines since they got married almost 12 years ago,” reads one network statement. “In this follow-up TLC docuseries, Alec and Hilaria invite viewers into the home they share with their seven growing children. For the first time, they are opening up their family lives and having everyone join in with the non-stop love, laughter and drama.”
The announcement comes as Alec Baldwin. prepares to go to trial about the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Oxide.
Meanwhile, Hilaria has sparked controversy over the years for allegedly misrepresenting their heritage and cultural background. Baldwin was born in Boston and is of English, French-Canadian, German, Irish, and Slovak descent. However, she speaks with a Spanish accent, which she attributes to growing up in a Spanish-speaking home and living in Spain when she was a child.
