When Carly Pearce started writing her new album, hummingbirdHe hadn't researched the symbolism of the creature yet, but once he did, he knew he was on the right path.
“That changed the whole plan for the album,” he says. Consequence. “I realized that hummingbirds are a sign that the healing process can begin and that good luck is on the way.”

hummingbird is the country superstar's fourth studio album, and he assembled a team of heavy hitters to execute his vision, reuniting with renowned Nashville songwriters like Shane McAnally and Natalie Hemby. She co-wrote all but one of the album's tracks and produced the entire project with McAnally and Josh Osborne.
Discussing each song on the album, it's abundantly clear that Pearce values her role as a woman in country music at a time when female singers still have to jump through additional hoops to get coveted radio time or land on equal footing. . She is focused on opening doors for the next generation of young women who want to enter this space, imparting whatever wisdom she has available.
“You can come out on the other side stronger from difficulties,” he says when asked to talk about the album's central message. “If you do the work, are diligent, own your journey and don't try to compare yourself to other people, luck will be on your side. It is not necessary to have everything figured out to be happy.”
