Singer also talks about being inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and the upcoming Triple Moon Tour in Tonight show
With the holidays season in full swing, Alanis Morissette is gone The Tonight Show to perform a cover of “Last Christmas” by Wham!
The George Michael-penned classic is one of the seasonal tracks featured on Morissette's latest release Last Christmas EP, which also boasts a cover of John Lennon's “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” along with standards like “Little Drummer Boy” and “What Child Is This?”
“I have been obsessed with George Michael my whole life and had the pleasure of meeting him backstage at one of my concerts. WHAM! was a favorite band when I was younger,” Morissette previously said of her cover (via Advertising sign). “George's voice (velvety and dreamy) inspired me. Covering 'Last Christmas' is a way to mark the holiday season as well as bow to George himself.”
The singer — one of Rolling rockThe 50 Greatest Canadian Artists of All Time — also sat down with host Jimmy Fallon to discuss her recent induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (where Olivia Rodrigo gave her induction speech) as well as her upcoming Triple Moon tour, which finds Morissette, Joan Jett and Morgan Wade joining forces for a trip to 2024.
