When you run on at the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Wednesday night, Chappell Roan stopped the show to open up to the crowd.
Roan's rapidly growing fan base and incredibly catchy pop songs have helped her career skyrocket in recent months. The star got emotional when she addressed her sudden fame with her audience. “I just want to be honest with the crowd. I'm feeling a little down today because I think my career is going really fast and it's hard to keep up,” he said, adding, “I'm just being honest, I'm having a hard time today.”
“I'm not trying to give you a lesser show,” the rising star said before continuing the concert. “Thank you for understanding. That's all I ever wanted.”
This past weekend, Roan delivered one of her most memorable sets during her Governors Ball performance in New York City. Dressed as the Statue of Liberty, the singer told festival-goers that she turned down an offer to perform at the White House for a Pride Month event. She said her next song, “My Kink Is Karma,” was “a response to the White House asking me to play for Pride.” He continued, “We want freedom, justice and freedom for all. When you do that, then I will come.''
Pop's “Midwest Princess” met Olivia Rodrigo with her Offal tour, playing her final show as an opener in April. That month, Roan appeared to be embarking on a new era of music and stated that her since-released single, 'Good Luck, Babe', was the first song of her 'next chapter'.
The singer is set to perform at Kentuckiana Pride on the Big Four Lawn on June 15.
