Post Malone touched a typewriter for a “Fortnight” there, and now, he's with the old-school typewriter forever. Taylor Swift revealed the hilarious moment she released a behind-the-scenes video of the making of her image for Department of Tormented PoetsThe song's lead single with the song's collaborator on Friday (June 21).
The clip begins with the 14-time Grammy winner filming the scene towards the end in which she throws a white metal stroller into the two-way mirror in a stark white room. But unlike the video, where the cart shatters the glass and Swift stands determined, in this behind-the-scenes look, the cart bounces right over her, causing her to flinch and laugh at the camera.
While in the same room, the camera cuts to the singer-songwriter explaining the first scene. “This basically, in my mind, takes place in the Tortured Poets Department, which is a government municipal building where they study the behaviors and minds of poets,” he explains. “And one of the stereotypical things about poets over the years is that people said they were crazy.”
He then explains that the “Circles” artist is on set and would film the scene where the two sit across from each other, working on their typewriters. While showing Posty how to use the tool – not one of the more modern electric ones, but a classic typewriter – he moves the paper rack back to the other side to start a new line. In it, the rapper gleefully exclaims, “All you do is move it! This is awesome! I feel very steampunk!”
Swift, 34, then points out to her 28-year-old partner: “We don't work on typewriters! Millennials don't see that!”
Not yet finished exploring the artifact, Post asks her, “How are you going to get a shift” — his jaw suddenly drops in surprise — “What the hell! I'm buying it right now! This is a lot of fun. You shouldn't have let me play!”
That wasn't the only sweet moment between the two while filming the visual for “Fortnight,” which debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated May 4 and stayed at the summit for two weeks . While Swift, who directed the music video, instructs Post during one scene, the 10-time Grammy nominee not only listens carefully to his instructions, but also gives the pop superstar due respect. “Yes ma'am,” he said several times after giving him guidance.
As the behind-the-scenes video ended, Swift comments on a shot with Posty. “Look at this! You don't see happiness from either of us and then we come and find you!” she exclaims. “You're crazy! Look at this! Ooooh! Tired and so happy!”
“It's amazing! It's amazing. I think it's amazing,” Post replies as the pop star squeals with delight at how the video is coming together, before complimenting her on her work and mocking her. “One Take Tay!”
