Taylor Swift kicked off the first of three nights at London's Wembley Stadium on Friday. The singer gave a live debut of 'The Black Dog' from her double album, Section The tortured poets: The Anthology.
“I've never played this live before,” Swift told the crowd in a video shared in X, before diving into the surprise portion of her set. After its execution TTPD track, Swift performed a mash up of “Maroon” and “Come Back… Be Here” from 2022 Midnight and her 2012 album Redrespectively.
Given Swift's ties to the U.K. capital — the star dated actor Joe Alwyn for six and a half years before they split a year ago — many fans speculated whether she would perform “London Boy” or “So Long, London”, which some believe is for Alwyn. Instead, many thought “The Black Dog” was about 1975 frontman Matty Healy, given his reference to pop-punk band The Starting Line, which his band has covered during concerts.
Alwyn recently opened up about his split with the Eras tour star. When you talk to the Hollywood Reporter while promoting Kindness Items, the actor, who stars in the film, said: “I would hope that anyone and everyone can sympathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. He continued, “This is a difficult one to navigate. What's unusual and unusual about this situation is that, a week later, it's suddenly in the public domain and the outside world can weigh in.”
Swift's surprise acoustic sets were one of the most anticipated parts of her world tour. Earlier this month, she premiered “Carolina” live as part of a mashup with Forever'No Body, No Crime' at the third and final show of the Eras tour in Liverpool, England's Anfield Stadium.
