The headlining North American trek in support of Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going kicks off in Minneapolis
Time to pour up a double shot of whiskey; Shaboozey is going on tour. The country artist announced the fall dates for his tour in support of Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going on Monday, featuring nine stops in North America. The tour kicks off Sept. 9, in Minneapolis, and will make stops in Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn, and other cities. Shaboozey will also perform at the BET Awards June 30, and at FONO Festival in Quebec Sept. 14.
General sale for the tour will begin on Friday, June 28 at 10 a.m. local time following the conclusion of select presale opportunities which begin on Tuesday, June 25. The tour announcement follows the release of the Nigerian American artist’s sophomore album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, which combines hip-hop roots and country flavor. Rolling Stone‘s review said the album “taps into time-honored Nashville imagery: freight trains, getting loaded and asking Jesus for redemption.”
His song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” draws inspiration from J-Kwon’s 2004 hit “Tipsy,” and pays homage to Pharrell Williams and Zach Bryan. Shaboozey performed the hit during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, on a bar-themed set earlier this month. He also appears on Beyoncé‘s “Spaghettii” and “Sweet Honey Buckiin” from Cowboy Carter.
