Bloc Party is back with a new single, “Flirting Again.”
The new song arrives ahead of the band's performance at Glastonbury this coming weekend, as well as the band's headline show at London's Crystal Palace Park on July 7, which will serve as Bloc Party's biggest headline show till the date.
With a punchy, frequently intensifying beat, “Flirting Again” is a dance-punk ode to finding love and staying flirty. Yet even in the band's bright tones, a genuine darkness is revealed: “I texted my ex on Valentine's Day/But I got no reply, so I take away the pain,” the frontman sings. Bloc Party, Kele Okereke.
“'Flirting Again' is about getting back into the picture and trying to remember how it all works,” Kele Okereke said in a press release. “It's about trying to appear desirable and at the same time hide the pain that defines you. We all carry the various scars we have accumulated over the years, the anxieties that have come to shape the way we give and receive love. “This song is about getting up and moving forward.”
Bloc Party's most recent feature film was 2022 Alpha Games, their first new album in six years. Meanwhile, they fell The good life EP while on tour with Paramore last year.
